Review - Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 (2023)

This week on The Official Film Chart, The Flash speeds in, and Renfield returns, but nothing can stop the Guardians from chart Supremecy!

THE OFFICIAL CHART

We have one new entry and one re-entry into the placings this week. To accommodate these two titles, it’s the end of the chart road for Scream VI, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. But what could our new titles be, and where have they landed in the chart? Jump aboard your ships as we fly through the chart galaxy.

THE GUARDIANS MAKE IT A HAT TRICK AT THE TOP!

It’s a third week at Number 1 for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which continues its reign on digital download sales only. The Marvel Studios sequel bravely holds off all competition this week. (Read our review here.)

THE FLASH RACES INTO THE CHART!

The DC Universe speeds back into the chart in the form of our highest new entry of the week, The Flash at number 2, which makes its debut also on only digital downloads. (Read our review here.)

Evil Dead Rise staggers up six places in its second week, to a new peak of Number 4. (Read our review here.)

THE HONOUR AMONG THIEVES FALTERS!

Star-studded adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves drops three places to Number 5. (Read our review here.)

Chris Pine plays Edgin and Michelle Rodriguez plays Holga in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves from Paramount Pictures and eOne.

RENFIELD RETURNS!

Comedy-horror Renfield flies back into the Top 10 to Number 6 this week following its release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD, earning the title of the UK’s biggest film of the week on disc.

JOHN WICK IS SHOT DOWN AGAIN!

Avatar: The Way of Water sinks two places to number 8. (Read our review here.)

FAST X IS ON THE SKIDS!

Fast X has lost its brakes as it skids down two places to number 9. (Read our review here.)

MAVERICK LOSES THE NEED, THE NEED FOR SPEED!

Top Gun: Maverick has lost its afterburner as it falls two places to number 10. (Read our review here.)

OUTSIDE THE TOP TEN!

In the wider Top 20 are several new and re-entries. Brand new in the chart is the Bruce Lee UHD box set, Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest (11). The Rachel McAdams Family Dramedy Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret (15). And 1978 classic Jaws 2 (17) which enjoys a special edition 4K release. Re-entries come from two modern classics directed by Christopher Nolan, following the release of Oppenheimer in cinemas; Interstellar (12) and Inception (18).

END OF THE LINE!
