This week on The Official Chart, The Meg, and Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken Swim in, But The Little Mermaid still rules the chart!

THE OFFICIAL CHART

This week sees two extremely wet titles make an appearance in the listings alongside a re-entry. To make way for these three titles, it is the end of the road for Interstellar, Avatar: The Way Of Water, and Evil Dead Rise. So, what are the three titles that have made themselves known this week? Dive in and swim through the top ten to find out.

THE LITTLE MERMAID SURFACES AT THE TOP AGAIN!

The Little Mermaid enjoys a second week at the top of the Official Film Chart. Storming ahead on digital downloads only, Halle Bailey’s starring role in the live-action Disney adaptation extends its lead atop the UK charts with over 42,000 sales over the last seven days.

THERE IS STILL HONOUR AMONG THIEVES AT NUMBER 2!

Meanwhile, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves leaps seven places to its previous peak of number 2, following its release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD. (Read our review here.)

Justice Smith plays Simon, Rege-Jean Page plays Xenk, Michelle Rodriguez plays Holga and Chris Pine plays Edgin in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves from Paramount Pictures and eOne.

MARIO LOSES A LIFE!

Former Number 1 The Super Mario Bros. Movie holds on to a place in the Top 5 at number 3.

THE GUARDIANS FALL AGAIN!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 falls a place to number 4. (Read our review here.)

THE MEG RETURNS TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF THE TOP FIVE!

The Meg dives back into the Top 10 for the first time since January 2019 following the release of its sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, in cinemas. The original film swims into number 5. (Read our review here.)

RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN MAKES A SPLASH!

Our highest brand new entry this week is Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Dreamworks’ latest animated adventure which debuts at number 6. Shy 15-year-old Ruby discovers that she’s next in line in a fabled royal family of sea krakens, and finds that her destiny is bigger than she could have ever imagined.

THE FLASH GETS STOPPED IN HIS TRACKS!

Dropping three places to number 7 is The Flash. (Read our review here.)

MAVERICK GETS SHOT DOWN AGAIN!

Top Gun: Maverick dips two places to number 9. (Read our review here.)

Tom Cruise plays Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

A MAN CALLED OTTO DECIDES TO RETURN!

Finally, A Man Called Otto rebounds nine places to number 10, the former chart-toppers first stint in the Top 10 since May.

TIME TO RESURFACE AGAIN!

And that is all there is for the top ten for this week. With the blockbusters that have been in cinemas this summer coming to home entertainment, the battle for chart supremacy is on. So, until next week…
