Life In Plastic Never Looked so Good. Barbie and Ken Reunite in the New Trailer for Greta Gerwig's Barbie

This week on The Official Film Chart, Indiana Jones is beaten, and Fast X slows, giving Barbie a straight run to the top!

Welcome to The Official Film Chart.

THE OFFICIAL CHART

This week, we see a solitary new entry into the placings alongside two re-entries from a pair of old favourites. As such, it’s the end of the line for Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, No Hard Feelings, and Sisu. And we have a brand new number one. What is the new chart-topper? A rhetorical question: Who do you think?

BARBIE MAKES THE NUMBER ONE SHINE IN PINK!

Barbie makes a Number 1 debut on the Official Film Chart with a huge first-week sales haul. Racking up 94,600 sales on digital downloads only this week, the headline-grabbing, Greta Gerwig-directed and Margot Robbie-starring blockbuster earns the third biggest Official Film Chart debut of 2023 so far, following Avatar: The Way of Water and John Wick: Chapter 4. (Read our review here.)

Barbie’s success comes following a strong summer for the Barbie movie as a whole on the UK charts, with two of its soundtrack singles (Dua Lipa’s Dance the Night and Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For?) topping the Official Singles Chart, and the album itself spending eight weeks at the top of the Official Compilations Chart.

WE’RE DONE!

And just like that, we are done for this week. Barbie should stay on top of the chart next week. But waiting in the wings is the DC superhero movie Blue Beetle, which launches on PVOD on Monday (Read our review here.) In two weeks’ time, we will once again have a battle for chart supremacy. But until next week…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other and happy viewing!
