The Holdovers Gets Its European Premiere At The BFI London Film Festival

The Holdovers, a new film by director Alexander Payne. And starring Paul Giamatti holds its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
The new film by acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Holdovers, has held its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival yesterday evening. The film, starring Paul Giamatti, opens in limited release in the U.S. on October 27th. Before releasing wide on November 10th. It is a comedy-drama which is set in the 1970s. Also starring Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Carrie Preston, Gillian Vigman, Tate Donovan, and Dominic Sessa, it is written by David Hemingson. It has been universally acclaimed and has received a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Set in the early 1970s, the film follows Paul Hunham, a disliked teacher at Barton Academy, who’s responsible for supervising students who are unable to return home for the Christmas holidays. During the process, Paul must handle a particularly rebellious but troubled student named Angus, who is grieving the loss of his father.
Due to the continuing strikes in Hollywood, none of the actors from the film were able to attend the European premiere. However, director Alexander Payne was on hand to introduce the film to the assembled audience. Below, we offer a selection of photographs taken of the event.

The Holdoverswill open in limited release on October 27th. It will then be in wide release on November 10th.
