Signature Entertainment launches the exclusive UK trailer for The End We Start From. Hitting cinemas on January 19th.

Signature Entertainment today launches the trailer for Mahalia Belo’s debut feature The End We Start From. Which recently secured 9 BIFA nominations including Best Lead Performance and Best Supporting Performance for Jodie Comer and Katherine Waterston respectively.

Penned by award-winning British writer Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth, Normal People, The Wonder). And anchored by a tour-de-force performance from Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Last Duel, Prima Facie), the film also features supporting turns from Joel Fry (Cruella, Yesterday). Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts, Inherent Vice), BAFTA nominee Mark Strong (1917, Kingsman). BAFTA award-winning Gina McKee (My Policeman, Line Of Duty), Nina Sosanya (Screw, His Dark Materials). And two-time Academy Award nominee and BAFTA award-winning Benedict Cumberbatch.

THE PREMISE

When an environmental crisis sees London submerged by flood waters, a young family is torn apart in the chaos. As a woman (Jodie Comer) and her newborn try and find their way home. The profound novelty of motherhood is brought into sharp focus in this intimate and poetic portrayal of family survival.

Belo’s creative team includes BAFTA-nominated director of photography Suzie Lavelle (Normal People, His Dark Materials). Costume designer PC Williams (The Baby, We Are Lady Parts). Production designer Laura Ellis-Cricks (Beast, Tuesday). And hair and make-up designer Louise Coles (The Great, The Crown).

Anton, C2 Motion Picture Group, BBC Film, and the BFI funded the film with support from BBC Film and the National Lottery. Anton and UTA Independent Film Group are handling worldwide sales, and Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to the film.

The End We Start From is set to hit theatres in the UK and Ireland on Friday, January 19th, 2024. Additionally, The Official Motion Picture Soundtrack for The End We Start From will be available digitally on the same date, through Mercury Classics Soundtrack and Score.
