The Monkey Swings By To Make A Shocking Appearance In The New Red-Band Trailer!

The Monkey (2)

Everybody Dies. And That’s F****d Up. Directed by Osgood Perkins, the movie adaptation of The Monkey will swing into cinemas. Watch the new trailer here.

Black Bear has launched a brand new official trailer for director Osgood Perkins’ next film, THE MONKEY, starring Theo James, Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood. Based on the Stephen King short story, and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw), The Monkey is a new trip from Longlegs writer/director, Osgood Perkins.

When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy. The film is based on the short story by Stephen King, produced by James Wan. It will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on February 21. Beware, the trailer is a VERY red-band trailer for the movie.

The movie comes hot on the heels of the huge success of Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, also released by Black Bear. Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, hit cinemas in July of last year and has taken audiences and critics by storm. Becoming the UK’s highest-grossing independent horror of the last decade. (Read our review here.)

THE PREMISE

After stumbling upon their father’s vintage toy monkey in the attic, twin brothers Hal and Bill witness a string of horrifying deaths unfolding around them. In an attempt to leave the haunting behind, the brothers opt to discard the monkey and pursue separate paths over time. However, when the inexplicable deaths resurface, the brothers are compelled to reconcile and embark on a mission to permanently eliminate the cursed toy.

THE POSTER

Those of us who have read the short story. Knowing what it entails can only hope that the film does the story justice. Those who know nothing about it are advised to go into the film clean. To get what hopefully will be the full experience. If done right, this could send the audience home after a really good scare or so. With Osgood Perkins at the helm, I’m confident that he will knock it out of the park.

The Monkey will drop by to scare us all when he arrives on February 21st.
