If you want to make a movie about The Mob, you just have to turn to Robert De Niro. The Oscar-winning actor just has to be in a crime epic. But what if you could have two De Niro’s for the price of one, playing opposite of himself? That’s what we can look forward to in the upcoming movie, The Alto Knights. Barry Levinson directs the film, while Nicholas Pileggi, the renowned author and screenwriter, handles the screenplay. Pileggi wrote the book “Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family,” which was adapted into the classic film “Goodfellas,” featuring Robert De Niro. De Niro.
This time though, the film follows the real-life drama between the 1950s mob bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. De Niro takes on both roles in what promises to be another epic crime drama based on true-life events. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film on March 21. The first trailer for the film has been released. Let’s see if the film has made us an offer we can’t refuse.
PREMISE
Vito Genovese and Frank Costello are Italian-American mob bosses. Genovese orders a hit on Costello. Costello manages to survive the attempt, but he sustains injuries in the process. And ultimately decides to retire from the Mafia.
THE CAST
Joining De Niro in the film is Debra Messing as Bobbie Costello, Frank’s wife. Cosmo Jarvis as Vincent ‘The Chin’ Gigante and Kathrine Narducci as Anna Genovese, Vito’s wife. Irwin Winkler, Barry Levinson, Jason Sosonoff, Charles Winkler, and David Winkler produced the film.
The Alto Knights will be released in cinemas on March 21st.
