Warner Bros. has released a behind-the-scenes look at its highly anticipated Formula One feature film, “F1,” starring Brad Pitt. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Plan B Entertainment. The film is being developed under the Dawn Apollo Films banner, which is owned by seven-time F1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton.
The movie is scheduled for global theatrical release by Warner Bros. Pictures with a release date of June 27th in North America, and starting June 25th internationally. In collaboration with Formula 1®, this film immerses viewers in the exhilarating and cinematic world of F1, featuring filming at various races on the sport’s calendar.
PREMISE
Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, has a horrible crash. Forcing him to retire from Formula One and start racing in other disciplines. A Formula One team owner and friend, Ruben (Javier Bardem), contacts Hayes and asks him to come out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris) for the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
The feature film captures the team in action during actual Grand Prix weekends as they compete against the giants of the sport. The star-studded cast also includes Academy Award-nominee Kerry Condon and Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem. And Emmy Award-winner, Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.
BEHIND THE CAMERAS
Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”) directs and produces the feature alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films. And Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment. And Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner. The film has been produced in partnership with Formula 1® and the F1 community, encompassing the 10 F1 teams, their drivers, the FIA, and race promoters. Academy Award-nominee Ehren Kruger (“Top Gun: Maverick”) writes the screenplay. Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer.
The wide theatrical release will also include IMAX® theatres. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry. And powerful digital audio, creates a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
APPLE ORIGINAL FILMS
Momentum around the Apple Original Films slate has continued to grow since the debut of Apple TV+ four years ago. In addition to Apple making history as the first streaming service to land the Academy Award for Best Picture with “CODA.” Apple Original Film “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” also recently earned the Academy Award for Best Animated Short. And “Killers of the Flower Moon” landed 10 historic Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

F1 is set to launch globally on June 27th.
