MUBI Announces The New Release Date For Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Directorial Debut, Hot Milk

Hot Milk, Coming To UK & Irish Cinemas From MUBI On July 4th.

The new release date for Rebecca Lenkiwicz’s directorial debut, Hot Milk, has been revealed by MUBI. Catch the film in UK & Ireland cinemas soon.

MUBI, the global service and production company, has announced that BAFTA-nominated writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz (known for Ida, She Said, Disobedience) will direct Hot Milk. The film will hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 4 July, shifting from its original release date.

Starring BAFTA award-winning Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Emily). Emmy and BAFTA TV nominated Fiona Shaw (Bad Sisters, Killing Eve). Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Corsage). Vincent Perez (Alone in Berlin, Boléro). Yann Gael (Gladiator II, 1899) and Patsy Ferran (Michey 17, Firebrand). Based on Deborah Levy’s Booker Prize and Goldsmiths Prize short-listed novel of the same name. Hot Milk received its World Premiere in Competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival on Friday 14 February.

PREMISE

Set in the scorching heat of a Spanish summer. The film follows Rose (Fiona Shaw) and her daughter Sofia (Emma Mackey) as they travel to the seaside town of Almería to consult Gómez (Vincent Perez). An enigmatic healer who may hold the key to Rose’s mysterious illness. But in the sun-drenched town, Sofia, trapped till now by her mother’s condition, begins to shed her inhibitions. She is captivated by the magnetic charm of Ingrid, a free-spirited traveller portrayed by Vicky Krieps.

Sofia’s increased freedom becomes too much for her controlling mother. And as the hot sun beats down, their relationship simmers with pent-up resentment and bitterness. Threatening to tear the fragile threads that hold them together.

Hot Milk will be in UK & Irish cinemas on July 4th.
