Imagine a world where you need to be assessed before you are allowed to have a child. That is the scary premise of the science fiction film The Assessment. The film stars Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, and Himesh Patel, along with Indira Varma, Nicholas Pinnock, Charlotte Ritchie, Leah Harvey, and Minnie Driver. It is set in a near future where parenthood is strictly controlled. It follows a couple who undergo a rigorous seven-day assessment to determine their suitability for raising a child. Dave Thomas, Nell Garfath-Cox, and John Donnelly crafted the screenplay for the film, while Fleur Fortuné makes her feature-length directorial debut. PREMISE
In the near future, where society strictly regulates parenthood, a couple faces a seven-day assessment to prove their right to have a child. As the evaluation unfolds, they find themselves trapped in a psychological nightmare that forces them to challenge the very foundations of their society and confront what it truly means to be human.
