The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Announces Three New Cast Members For Their Third Season

Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varia and Adam Young join the cast for the third season of Prime Video’s The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power.

Today, Prime Video confirmed that Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla, and Adam Young have joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for its upcoming third season. The series recently began filming at its new production home, Shepperton Studios in the UK. Richardson will be a series regular. Varla and Young will appear in recurring roles. The globally successful series has attracted over 170 million viewers worldwide. It continues to be one of Amazon’s strongest drivers for new Prime membership sign-ups.

ANDREW RICHARDSON

Canadian-born British actor Andrew Richardson made his professional theatre debut in the Olivier Award-nominated Guys & Dolls. Directed by Sir Nicholas Hytner, it featured Richardson at the Bridge Theatre in London. Playing the role of Sky Masterson, he was nominated in 2023 for an Emerging Talent award by the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. He was also nominated for the Ian Charleson award in 2025 for his roles in Uncle Vanya at The Orange Tree Theatre and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Royal Shakespeare Company at The Barbican. He trained at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh. Richardson will next be seen on screen in a recurring role in the Peacock series Ponies, starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson.

ZUBIN VARLA

Award-winning British actor and singer Zubin Varla has built an extensive career. He worked with some of the world’s most innovative and imaginative directors. A graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Varla won the 2023 Olivier Award for “Best Actor in a Supporting Role in A Musical.” His portrayal of Jerry Falwell in Tammy Faye at the Almeida Theatre earned him this honour. He also received Olivier Award nominations for his performances in A Little Life and Fun Home. These were at The Harold Pinter Theatre and Young Vic, respectively. Other theatre credits include Twelfth Night alongside Derek Jacobi, Measure for Measure (Young Vic), and Attempts on Her Life. He was also part of A Tupperware of Ashes and The Life of Galileo (National Theatre).

At the Royal Shakespeare Company, he acted in The Tempest, Roberto Zucco, and Julius Caesar. Other performances include Equus and Jesus Christ Superstar. He appeared in The Two Character Play and Ghost Quartet. On screen, Varla’s roles include the Disney+ series Andor. He holds regular recurring roles in Deep State, Will, Our Girl, Strike Back, and Little Dorrit. He played a leading role in an episode of Silent Witness. Alongside The Rings of Power, he is currently filming a TV project for the BBC. He will soon be seen in the upcoming Netflix series Hostage.

ADAM YOUNG

British actor Adam Young is known to fans for playing the role of Jim-Bob in the 2021 horror film Don’t Breathe 2. He trained at London’s Mountview Academy of the Arts. Young made his screen debut in Tom Beard’s 2018 film Two for Joy, starring alongside Bella Ramsey, Samantha Morton, Daniel Mays, and Billie Piper. His other film credits include Clergymen and Ultra. On television, Young has appeared in Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air. He also acted in the long-running BBC series EastEnders. Other TV appearances include The Witcher: Blood Origin, Sex Education, Royal Bastards: Rise of the Tudors, and Romantic Getaway.

His extensive theatre credits include Redlands at the Chichester Festival Theatre and Withnail and I (Birmingham Rep). He starred in Call Me Vicky (Pleasance Theatre) and The Duchess of Malfi (Sam Wanamaker Festival at The Globe Theatre). He also appeared in No Quarter (Soho Theatre), Twelfth Night, Henry V, Macbeth, and The Merry Wives of Windsor (Petersfield Shakespeare Festival). Young performed in The Alchemist at Germany’s Shakespeare Festival at Globe Neuss.

The trio join Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan, who have also joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for the series’ upcoming third season.

JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER

Widely considered one of Britain’s brightest stars, with a career spanning theatre, TV and film. Jamie Campbell Bower is also an accomplished musician who has toured Europe and America. He is widely known for his incredible performance as Henry Creel/Vecna in Stranger Things. Other TV appearances include playing Mick Jagger in Urban Myths: Mick & Margaret. Christopher Marlow in Will. King Arthur in Camelot. The voice of Skiff in the wonderful Thomas & Friends, and 11-12 in the remake of The Prisoner alongside Sir Ian McKellen.

Bower made his film debut in Tim Burton’s gothic musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in a leading role opposite Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter. He played the role of Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I and reprised that role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He also appeared in London Boulevard. Guy Richie’s RocknRolla. Martin Koolhoven’s Winter in Wartime. Anonymous, directed by Roland Emmerich. The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 & 2. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and most recently in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.

EDDIE MARSAN

The recipient of two BIFA Awards for his role in Mike Leigh’s features Vera Drake and Happy Go Lucky, as well as several international critics and festival awards. Eddie Marsan’s extensive body of work spans over 20 years. Eddie has been a fierce champion of underprivileged and diverse representation in the film industry and was recently awarded an OBE. He has several films and TV projects coming out over the next year. He recently starred in the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black. The Apple TV+ series Franklin opposite Michael Douglas. Netflix’s Supacell. The feature Firebrand alongside Jude Law and Alicia Vikander. The Brian Epstein biopic Midas Man. The Winter King with Toni Collette and Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Geurre. He also starred in the Netflix thriller Choose or Die and the dystopian sci-fi drama Vesper.

In 2013, Marsan began his iconic role as Terry Donovan in Ray Donovan, which ran for seven seasons on Showtime and which he reprised for the 2022 feature film. A role in Deadpool 2 brought Marsan into the DC Universe. His role in the pulp thriller Atomic Blonde marked the beginning of his multiple collaborations with director David Leitch. Other notable roles include Guy Ritchie’s Wrath of Man for Prime Video. The four-part Channel 4 drama Deceit. The TV adaptation of the novel Ridley Road. The crime thriller White Boy Rick. Adam McKay’s political comedy Vice.

His expansive career includes acclaimed independent projects such as Tyrannosaur alongside Olivia Coleman. And Edgar Wright’s franchise The World’s End, alongside Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. He has also appeared in blockbuster features such as Gangs of New York. War Horse. V for Vendetta. Mission Impossible 3. Hancock. Snow White and the Huntsman. Hobbs and Shaw, and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.
