Elio is set to debut on Disney+. Additionally, a new video celebrating Pixar Animation Studios’ legacy of storytelling has also been revealed today.
Disney and Pixar’s out-of-this-world adventure film Elio will land on Disney+ on September 17. To celebrate the timeless storytelling from Pixar Animation Studios, Disney has revealed a new content piece. It highlights moments from recent fan favourites, such as Luca and Elemental. It also features beloved classics like Finding Nemo, Up, Coco, Ratatouille, and Inside Out, which can all be enjoyed at home on Disney+.
COMING TO DISNEY+
Elio’s debut on the platform follows the success of last year’s Inside Out 2, which became the No. 1 film premiere on Disney+ in 2024. It drove 30.5 million views globally in just 5 days.
The latest chapter in the Studio’s storytelling legacy joins a catalogue of timeless films from Pixar Animation Studios, which all began with Toy Story, 30 years ago. Pixar revolutionised the art of animation with the release of Toy Story in 1995. It has since created some of the most successful and beloved animated films of all time. Over the last three decades, the studio has released 29 full-length feature films, racked up 71 Academy Award nominations, and taken home 23 Oscars.
Next year marks the highly anticipated return of Toy Story 5 as well as the next original story, Hoppers, promising audiences a continuation of the studio’s enduring impact for all generations.
ABOUT ELIO
For centuries, people have called out to the universe in search of answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film “Elio,” the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. When he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms. Furthermore, he needs to navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
Directed by Madeline Sharafian (Burrow Sparkshort), Domee Shi (Bao short, Turning Red), and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of Coco), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of Coco), the film features the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO.
