The Essex Murders: Who Killed Goldfinger?
Part 1 of 3
On June 24, 2015, authorities discovered John “Goldfinger” Palmer, one of Britain’s most notorious criminals, dead in his garden in Essex. Initially, police suspected natural causes. However, they soon shifted their focus, treating the case as a professional hit. Twenty-eight years earlier, Palmer had faced trial for his involvement in the infamous Brink’s-Mat robbery. He melted down millions of pounds worth of gold from the £26 million heist and sold it. His wealth grew so substantial. He once ranked alongside the Queen in the Sunday Times Rich List. However, in 2001, he went to prison for timeshare fraud.
As the 10th anniversary of his unsolved murder approaches, this new series re-examines his life and death. Featuring exclusive testimony from some of Palmer’s closest associates and family members, speaking for the first time. Private investigations firm TMEye – fresh from reinvestigating the Essex Boys murder case, which assisted in launching the CCRC to review the convictions – will lead viewers on a hunt spanning multiple countries.
