Discover rock’s greatest Session Man in The Session Man, coming to UK Cinemas. Nicky Hopkins will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
The Session Man Ltd is proud to announce that The Session Man will be in UK cinemas from 21st November. The Session Man tells the story of Nicky Hopkins, the highly gifted and prolific session pianist and unsung hero.
Nicky not only played with The Kinks, The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, but he also played on solo albums of all four members of the Beatles in the early part of a stellar career that spanned over 30 years. During that time, he contributed to over 250 albums and a vast number of single releases.
A LEGENDARY PERFORMER
Nicky’s legendary piano riffs and wonderful musical motifs helped ordinary tracks become extraordinary and iconic. Many of them remain popular today. The generations that followed the Golden Era of Rock ‘n’ Roll soon discovered those iconic tracks. These tracks made Nicky Hopkins a legend amongst his peers. Examples include Revolution by The Beatles, Like A Rainbow, Sympathy For The Devil, and Angie by the Rolling Stones. Additionally, Jealous Guy by John Lennon from his album Imagine is noteworthy. Furthermore, You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker is another prominent example.
INFLUENTIAL NAMES
The Session Man brings together some of the most influential names in Rock ‘n’ Roll to celebrate the man behind the keys. The film features interviews with Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Dave Davies, Pete Townshend, Harry Shearer, Slim Jim Phantom, Terry Reid, Peter Frampton, Benmont Tench and Graham Parker.
BOB HARRIS
The Session Man’s narrator, Bob Harris, former presenter of the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test and current presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Sounds of the 70s, stated,
“Nicky Hopkins’ contributions made him rock and roll’s greatest session man.”
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
This November, Nicky Hopkins will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, in the 40th annual induction ceremony, recognising his outstanding contributions to musical excellence.
