Ryan Gosling bravely goes into space and fist bumps an alien in the final sneak peek at Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Project Hail Mary.
Coming exclusively to cinemas on March 19th is the big-screen adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel, Project Hail Mary. The movie looks to be an exciting and emotional film. It will have us hooked in our seats. Starring the ever-reliable Ryan Gosling, the film features a cast including Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. The film’s first trailer was a triumph, giving us a taste of what to expect. But today, Sony Pictures has upped the stakes by releasing the sneak peek. This final look before the film opens shows how far Gosling will go to save Earth from destruction. Fortunately, he won’t be fighting alone; he makes first contact with an enthusiastic alien who lends a helping fist-bump! Check it out below.
THE PREMISE
Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light-years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. He slowly deduces he is the sole survivor of a crew sent to the Tau Ceti solar system. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.

RELEASE
What a phenomenal final look at the film. With Ryan Gosling now filming Star Wars: Starfighter, the actor appears to have set his sights on space adventures for the next few years. That is incredibly exciting. Project Hail Mary looks like a shoo-in to shoot straight to the top of our 2026 favourites. With the film being shot for IMAX, Gosling fans will be eating extremely well next year. Bring it on!
We saw the film this past Monday in IMAX. While we are embargoed from giving you a full review, I can confirm that the film could possibly be the film of the year. Also, prepare to fall in love with Rocky, the alien Gosling encounters in the film! We can divulge our social media thoughts, with our editor, Phil Roberts, saying:
“Lord & Millers #ProjectHailMary is a masterful exploration of friendship and humanity.
Ryan Gosling & Rocky the alien are the ultimate duo. Heartfelt, hilarious, gloriously vibrant and narratively humbling, this film is out of this world.
This is project brilliance!”
While I had this to say about the film:
“Ryan Gosling, take a bow.
#ProjectHailMary is one of the finest movies I’ve seen in a while and lays down a marker for one of the movies of the year.
A human story wrapped around a sci-fi film, it holds our hearts until the final frame.
I loved it from start to end.
Project WOW!”
See it first in cinemas from Sat 14 & Sun 15 March. In cinemas and IMAX everywhere March 19. And watch for our full review of the film, coming soon!
