Baker Street’s greatest detective will return as Prime Video greenlights Young Sherlock for another season!
Look out, Young Sherlock fans, because Prime Video just renewed the breakthrough series for a second season. Since its release, the series has become one of Prime Video’s most popular titles, ranking among the streamer’s top 10 Original Seasons of all time. So it comes as no surprise that more adventures are afoot for Baker Street’s legendary detective. The series was brought to the screen by director Guy Ritchie and delivered an action-packed mystery that charts the legendary origin story of the world’s greatest detective.
Thankfully, the news doesn’t end with the renewal. After directing the first two episodes in the first season, Guy Ritchie will also return to direct the first episode of the second season. So, get ready to return to the Holmes universe with all guns blazing!

We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season Two.”
Guy Ritchie will return to direct the first episode of the second season. Through its first 28 days of release, Young Sherlock reached 45 million viewers, and ranks among the top 10 Prime Original Seasons all-time. The series hit number 1 in over 95 countries worldwide, with 63% of its audience coming from international markets and an outsize performance in the U.K., India, and Germany. The Season One trailer reached 223 million views in its first seven days, breaking a record as the most-watched series trailer ever in that time frame for Prime Video. Season One was quickly Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it “Sensational” (Variety), a “Masterpiece” (Screen Rant), and “Stunning” (The Wrap).

About Season One: When a charismatic, youthfully defiant Sherlock Holmes meets none other than James Moriarty, he finds himself dragged into a murder investigation that threatens his liberty. Sherlock’s first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, leading to an explosive showdown that alters the course of his life forever. Unfolding in a vibrant Victorian England and adventuring abroad, the series exposes the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.
Season One of Young Sherlock also starred Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time), Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Max Irons (Condor) and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech).
Guy Ritchie serves as an executive producer and will return as a director in Season Two to direct the first episode of the season. The series is created for television and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill with executive producers Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer. Motive Pictures leads physical production for Young Sherlock.

Okay, I’m sold. I love a Sherlock Holmes adventure. Whether it’s Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Beneditch Cumberbatch, or Robert Downey Jr, there is something magical about Baker Street’s great detective. So, the thought of another season crafted by Guy Ritchie is a tantalizing prospect. Whether the new season can live up to the legacy of its predecessor remains to be seen. But with Ritchie behind the camera, a stunning cast, and some fantastic production value, Young Sherlock Season 2 is a shoo-in to keep us entertained.
