With bold visions, restored icons, and queer cinema throughout the month, June is another incredible month on MUBI. Get the details here.
This June, MUBI presents a bold and eclectic programme that spans cult classics, contemporary provocations, and essential restorations. For example, Albert Serra’s unsettling documentary Afternoons of Solitude and Julia Ducournau’s Palme d’Or‑winning Titane are featured. The newly restored 4K release of Kevin Smith’s irreverent Dogma also appears. The month is defined by cinema that confronts desire, faith, violence, and identity head-on. Major works from Luca Guadagnino, including I Am Love, sit alongside Louis Malle’s tragic romance Damage. Meanwhile, Stephan Elliott’s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert remains as joyous and defiant as ever.
June also celebrates cinema as history and resistance. In honor of Ken Loach’s 90th birthday, Kes and Hidden Agenda highlight the enduring moral and political force of his work. Additionally, We’ve Always Been Here! Queer Cinema Looks Back collection traces stories of queer love and survival across eras and borders. Together, these films reflect MUBI’s commitment to championing daring auteurs, restored landmarks, and voices that continue to shape how we see the world.
AFTERNOONS OF SOLITUDE
Albert Serra’s brutal documentary Afternoons of Solitude (2024) follows the celebrated matador Andrés Roca through the spectacle and solitude of the bullfighting world. With an unflinching vision of this controversial sport, Serra manages to transform the bullfighting arena into a dreamlike and unsettling space where pageantry and mortality collide. Though thick with violence, the film rewards intrepid viewers with a deep meditation on performance and masculinity. It also offers a unique look at our human obsession and fascination with death.
Afternoons of Solitude (Serra, 2024) – June 5

The We’ve Always Been Here! Queer Cinema Looks Back collection brings together several stories of queer love, longing, and resistance across decades, borders, and histories. From forbidden romances to defiantly lived ones, these films reflect the many ways that queer lives have existed throughout history, even while forced into the margins.

KEN LOACH’S 90TH BIRTHDAY
In honor of Ken Loach’s 90th birthday, we bring together an early classic and a tiptoe into genre work from perhaps the most celebrated British auteur. Showcasing his empathetic eye for deeply human characters and the political fury that runs throughout his filmography, Kes (1969) and Hidden Agenda (1990) are two films that serve as a reminder of the impact his work has had on the British cinema landscape and beyond.
Kes (Loach, 1969) – June 1
Hidden Agenda (Loach, 1990) – June 1
DOGMA 4K
Newly restored in stunning 4K, Kevin Smith’s irreverent fantasy Dogma (1999) follows Bethany (Linda Fiorentino), an ordinary woman unexpectedly pulled into a battle between fallen angels, Catholic doctrine, and the very fate of existence itself. Additionally, the film features an all-star cast of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, and Alan Rickman. Smith’s cult classic mixes theological satire with anarchic humor, asking whether faith can survive in a world as absurd as this one.
Dogma (Smith, 1999) – June 1
TITANE
Julia Ducournau’s Palme d’Or-winning Titane (2021) is a fearless collision of body horror, desire, and transformation, following a young woman whose connection to metal and machinery drives her into increasingly surreal territory. Blending shocking violence with unexpected tenderness, Ducournau crafts a feverish and unforgettable vision of identity and the fragile yet strange limits of the human body.
Titane (Ducournau, 2021) – June 15
DAMAGE
Louis Malle’s study of desire and its devastating consequences, Damage (1992), sees Dr Fleming (Jeremy Irons) play a respected politician whose illicit affair with Anna (Juliette Binoche) spirals into an obsession that threatens to unravel his and his family’s life. Can the irreversible cost of surrendering to passion ever be worth it?
Damage (Malle, 1992) – June 26
THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT
Stephan Elliott’s vibrant The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) follows two drag performers and a transgender woman, Tick (Hugo Weaving), Adam (Guy Pearce), and Bernadette (Terence Stamp), as they journey across the Australian outback. Beneath the glitter, lip-syncs, and irreverent humor lies a road movie of resilience and friendship as the trio travels further into the unknown, asking whether it is possible for self-acceptance to outweigh the prejudice they face.
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Elliot, 1994) – June 1
