Forty years after its original release, Leonard Nimoy’s Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is beaming back into cinemas for a special anniversary celebration.
It’s time to set a course for 1986 once again. Paramount has announced that Leonard Nimoy’s beloved Star Trek classic, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, is returning to cinemas to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Already a milestone year for the franchise, 2026 is now shaping up to be even more special as fans get the chance to revisit one of the most beloved entries in the series on the big screen. Featuring Captain Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the rest of the Enterprise crew on a time-traveling mission to save Earth’s whales, The Voyage Home remains a fan favorite four decades after its original release.

SYNOPSIS
When a mysterious alien power threatens the atmosphere of Earth in the 23rd century, Kirk and his crew must time travel back to 1986 San Francisco to save mankind. Exploring this strange new world, they encounter punk rock, pizza and exact-change buses that are as alien as anything in the far reaches of the galaxy.

In addition to the anniversary rerelease, 2026 will also see the 60th anniversary of the creation of STAR TREK, which is being celebrated across Paramount, culminating in a big celebration to mark STAR TREK DAY on September 8

Created by acclaimed pop-culture artist Matt Ferguson, the artwork gives the beloved sci-fi classic a fresh new look while staying true to the spirit of the original film.

This is fantastic news. The Voyage Home is one of the franchise’s most beloved films, so it’s great to see it finally back on the big screen.
