The Academy Award-Nominee Andrea Riseborough joins the cast of the Paramount+ limited series, 9/12. She Joins Barry Pepper and Jeremy Strong.
Paramount+ has announced that Academy Award Nominee Andrea Riseborough will star alongside Emmy and Tony Award Winner, Oscar Nominee, and executive producer Jeremy Strong (Succession, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, The Apprentice) in 9/12. This is the upcoming six-episode limited series for Paramount+. It tells the story of the David vs. Goliath fight that exposed corruption and won justice for 9/11’s ailing heroes.
Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie, The Regime) will play “Molly,” Coach’s resilient wife who is deeply concerned about her husband’s health and her family’s future. Moreover, she demands help and finds hope in Jason’s (Jeremy Strong) legal expertise.
THE PREMISE
9/12 dramatizes a landmark case that reshaped the fight for accountability. It shows a relentless legal war that stretched nearly a decade. As a result, almost $1 billion in compensation was secured for first responders who fell gravely ill in the wake of 9/11.
As previously announced, Jeremy Strong stars as renowned class action lawyer Jason Smith, who risked everything to take on entrenched institutions. He exposed the politics, greed, corruption, and betrayal that compounded tragedy. All this was set against the emergency workers’ extraordinary unity and unflinching bravery as the World Trade Center was collapsing. Additionally, Riseborough joins Barry Pepper (The Kennedys, Saving Private Ryan). He will play Coach, Molly’s husband. He is a former NYPD police officer and 9/11 first responder suffering from leukemia, a result of his work at ground zero.
BEHIND THE LIMITED SERIES
Paramount Television Studios and SISTER produced the limited series. Tobias Lindholm takes charge as the writer, director, and executive producer. Frank Pugliese, known for his work on House of Cards, joins Lindholm as a writer and executive producer. Additionally, Strong serves as an executive producer.
