The Smash Hit Comédie Française Is Coming To Select UK & Irish Cinemas

The smash-hit comedy about one chaotic opening night and one woman’s race to save the show, Comédie Française, is coming to UK cinemas.

Tull Stories is proud to announce that the riotous, laugh-out-loud comedy film Comédie-Française will be available in UK & Irish cinemas from 9th October.

THE PREMISE

At the Comédie-Française, the show must go on. But three hours before Nina’s directorial debut, chaos erupts: a stranded actor, exploding tensions, broken equipment, clashing egos. With time running out, she fights to save the premiere.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

Since its triumphant release in French cinemas in July 2026, Comédie-Française has been a smash hit, logging an extraordinary 800,000 admissions. The critical praise has been equally resounding. For example, Télérama called it “a delightful comedy with slick, clever direction.” Le Point praised the film as “lively and funny.” Finally, Les Échos summed it up simply as “True French comedy” and “the comedy of the summer!”

Le Parisien hailed it as “a thrilling look behind the scenes of the institution,” and with very good reason. The Comédie-Française is one of France’s most revered arts institutions. In fact, it is the oldest still-performing theatre company in the world. The cast of this film is made up of real-life members of the company itself. This brings an authenticity and intimacy to the story that makes the film all the more extraordinary.

Now, it is coming to the UK with a mission of reintroducing international comedy to UK audiences. Warm, witty and wildly entertaining, Comédie-Française is a love letter to the chaos behind the curtain and a chance for UK audiences to fall head over heels for French cinema all over again.

THE CAST

The cast of Comédie-Française includes Pauline Clément (Broute 24), Laurent Stocker (1001 Gram), Julien Frison (Marguerite’s Theorem), Marina Hands (Lady Chatterley), Adeline D’Hermy (Maryline), and Danièle Lebrun (Camille Claudel).

JONNY TULL

“We’re very excited to bring the French mega hit COMÉDIE FRANÇAISE to the UK and Ireland. This uproarious film is a great time in the cinema and audiences will be rolling in the aisles. We created Joy Of Cinema to address a gap in the UK market and can’t wait to see how Comédie Française will be embraced.”

– Jonny Tull, Tull Stories, Distributor
