Lionsgate releases a second full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping along with new posters!
Witness the beginning of the revolution this November. The odds are in Hunger Games fans’ favor today. Lionsgate has unveiled the second full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film adaptation of the best-selling novel hits theaters on November 20, 2026. In this film, we revisit the world of Panem. It follows young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games. Specifically, it starts on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The first trailer was released earlier this year in April.
Along with this explosive new trailer, Lionsgate has also released two posters — one featuring the tributes from District 12, one featuring the characters from the Capitol.
THE PREMISE
Set 24 years before the first film, young Haymitch Abernathy faces the challenge of competing in the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell. This edition of the games features a unique rule twist that occurs every 25 years. For the 50th Hunger Games, each district of Panem must send twice the number of tributes to the Capitol, who will fight to the death in the Hunger Games.
CAST AND CREW
Francis Lawrence, who directed all the films in the franchise except the first, returns to the director’s chair. Billy Ray, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first film, is also making a comeback.
