With five other films opening this week alongside them, you’ll have plenty of entertainment to choose from.
BAD APPLES
Paramount Pictures-Released Friday 18th September
Synopsis: Maria is a primary school teacher doing her best to inspire a class of 10-year-olds, but is stifled by one unruly and chaotic student. After an escalation of events, she kidnaps the boy and locks him in her basement.

We saw the film recently and really enjoyed it. I said in my review:
“Jonatan Etzler’s Bad Apples is possibly the most unhinged comedy-drama of the year, featuring an incredible performance from Saoirse Ronan. With terrific direction from Etzler, a great script, solid acting, and an enjoyable feel, the film soars. Ok, so we will act differently than Maria does in the film, but that hardly matters. The moral debate is for after the film ends. During the proceedings, we just need to sit back and enjoy what we are given. Etzler’s direction, framing Somerset in its natural colors, and his ability to draw out performances from the entire cast, including a great supporting performance from Jacob Anderson as Sam, Maria’s ex-partner and school colleague, all add to the film’s charm and enjoyment.”

We saw the film and had a great time with it. I said in my review:
“Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil is exactly what the fans have been craving: blood, guts, gore, violence, and a great horror movie in its own right. It delivers on virtually every level and then some. With a dark and ominous score from Hays and Ryan Holladay, this is what we’ve been waiting for. A bona fide version of the games brought to life on the big screen. Forget Alice and the Paul W.S. Anderson movies. Forget the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City reboot; this really is the real deal. Real horror, frightening events, violent death, plenty of gore, and incredible vision. This opens the world of Resident Evil up to even more possibilities, more avenues to explore, and more horror to leap out of the shadows.”
