KADOKAWA, Qzil. la and ARCH’s Adaptation of FromSoftware’s Global Hit, Sekiro: No Defeat, Will Be Exclusive to Crunchyroll Worldwide in January 2027.
Crunchyroll announced today that Sekiro: No Defeat, the fully hand-drawn anime adaptation produced by KADOKAWA, Qzil.la and ARCH, will begin streaming as a series in January 2027. The series will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus. Moreover, Sekiro: No Defeat will premiere on Crunchyroll as an eight-episode series. It will feature additional content beyond the theatrical version. Specifically, this version is currently screening in Japan.
Crafted with reverence for the original, the series adapts the game’s unforgettable story: a tale of loyalty, blood, and sacrifice set in a fantastical reimagining of Sengoku-era Japan. The expanded episodic format will offer audiences an even deeper experience of Wolf and Kuro’s journey.
AN EXPANDED THEATRICAL RUN
Originally slated for a limited three-week theatrical run, Sekiro: No Defeat will continue in Japan due to popular demand. Ahead of its release in Japanese cinemas, Sekiro: No Defeat screened as part of Annecy’s “Feature Films: Midnight Specials” program and made its North American premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
