The hit black comedy Bad Apples, starring Saoirse Ronan, is set for home release this November from Republic Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
Republic Pictures and Paramount Pictures have announced the home entertainment release for their comedy thriller, Bad Apples. Directed by Jonatan Etzler, the film will hit digital on November 3rd for purchase and rental. There is no confirmation yet that this also applies to the UK. Saoirse Ronan leads the cast as Maria. In this story, she plays a teacher who faces the challenge of an unruly pupil disrupting her class of ten-year-olds. The cast also features Jacob Anderson, Rakie Ayola, Robert Emms, Sean Gilder, and Kerry Howard.
THE PREMISE
Maria, a dedicated primary school teacher, strives to inspire her class of energetic 10-year-olds. However, one unruly student throws her efforts into chaos. As the child’s behavior spirals out of control, Maria starts making a series of poor decisions, which culminate in her accidentally taking the “bad apple” home and locking them inside. Desperate to rectify her mistake, she struggles to backtrack. Meanwhile, as the rest of her class begins to flourish and parents and staff celebrate the improvements, Maria finds herself tangled in a complicated situation.
We saw the film, and we loved it. I said in my review:
“Jonatan Etzler’s Bad Apples is possibly the most unhinged comedy-drama of the year, featuring an incredible performance from Saoirse Ronan. With terrific direction from Etzler, a great script, solid acting, and an enjoyable feel, the film soars. Ok, so we will act differently than Maria does in the film, but that hardly matters. The moral debate is for after the film ends. During the proceedings, we just need to sit back and enjoy what we are given. Etzler’s direction, framing Somerset in its natural colors, and his ability to draw out performances from the entire cast, including a great supporting performance from Jacob Anderson as Sam, Maria’s ex-partner and school colleague, all add to the film’s charm and enjoyment.”
