To celebrate the 80th anniversary, director Frank Capra’s timeless classic It’s A Wonderful Life returns to cinemas, this time in 4K! Join James Stewart again this holiday season.
“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!” That timeless line is now 80 years old. What many consider the best Christmas film classic of all time is coming back to cinema screens this holiday season. For two weeks only, from December 11, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is back in UK cinemas. The American Film Institute ranked it as the #1 most inspiring film of all time. Now, for the first time, it is showing in 4K. The film features a brilliant, emotional performance by Hollywood legend James Stewart. It airs on TV and pay-TV channels every year. In my home, my family and I watch it at least three or four times. That’s not bad for a film that received mixed reactions from critics when it first opened in 1946. It was a box-office flop at the time. Now, though, the film is considered one of the greatest films of all time.
ABOUT THE FILM
Embraced as a cherished holiday tradition by families around the world, Frank Capra’s heart-warming masterpiece IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE now celebrates 80 years. George Bailey (James Stewart) sets aside his dreams of world travel to run his father’s small community bank and protect the people of Bedford Falls from greedy businessman Mr. Potter (Lionel Barrymore). When a costly mistake pushes George to the brink of despair, a visit from a kindly angel (Henry Travers) shows him how the life of one good man can change the world forever. Directed by Frank Capra, with screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, and Frank Capra.
Paramount Pictures is bringing back the classic It’s A Wonderful Life to cinemas in 4K from December 11th.
