On May 26th, Ariel will be swimming herself into live-action as the Disney remake surfaces in theaters. It is time to once again meet The Little Mermaid.
Disney seems intent on remaking all of their classic animated movies into live-action. After the success of Aladdin, The Lion King, and Cinderella to name a few, this summer it is the turn of The Little Mermaid to get the live-action treatment. The film will be surfacing in theaters on May 26th. This time, singer/songwriter Halle Bailey will be playing the lead role of Ariel. With support from Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, and Javier Bardem, the film could be another success for Disney. A new teaser for the film has swum online today. Let’s go under the sea and take a peek:
THE PREMISE
The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel (Halle Bailey), the youngest daughter of King Triton (Javier Bardem), the ruler of the underwater kingdom Atlantica. Ariel, already fascinated by the world of humans, falls deeply in love with the handsome Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) after saving him during a shipwreck and resolves to meet him in the world above water. Her quest brings her into conflict with her father and in the clutches of the scheming sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy).

The Little Mermaid will be swimming into theaters on May 26th.
