Look out Fortnite fans because the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are ready to take over Chapter 5 Season 1. Are you ready for Fortnite x TMNT?
Fortnite has unleashed its latest collaboration. Building on its selection of fantastic crossovers, Epic Games has launched the Fortnite x TMNT bundle. That’s right, the heroes in a half-shell are bringing their ninja skills to Winterfest. And they’re not alone. Their legendary counterpart April O’ Neill has joined them, bringing her news-reporting equipment to the fight.
The crossover has delivered an epic bundle. Not only can players buy the Turtles and April, but included in their shop tabs are their LEGO versions to be used in the new LEGO x Fortnite arena. Meaning fans of the IP can deploy their favorite ninjas in every arena of the game.
COWABUNGA CREW
The set is easily one of the most robust collections of the year. Epic Games has gone all out to ensure fans get the full experience, right down to their iconic ninja weapons. Raphael has been rewarded with his classic Sai’s as both a pickaxe and back bling. Strangely Michelangelo only uses one Nunchuck with his additional weapon attached to his customary skateboard. Donatello makes use of his customary bow staff which can be used as both a pickaxe and a back bling. And Leonardo completes the awesome foursome with his dual katana blades. Like Donnie, Leo attaches his blades as his back blings.
And rounding out the set, April O’Neill makes use of her traditional Channel 6 boom mic as a pickaxe. However, fans can also attach her customary news camera as a back bling. What’s more, April boasts a hefty collection of TMNT sprays. A spray for every Turtle is included. As well as a few additional extras to complement the set.
DESIGN
Sadly the set is not without its flaws. Both Leonardo and Donatello boast some peculiar leather-looking shorts beneath their shell that are jarring when the characters crouch. Moreover, Raphael is sporting his modern over-the-head red bandana. Which is fine, but it isn’t the traditional look we know and love. And finally, Mickey doesn’t use both nunchucks – hardly the traditional version of the character we are accustomed to. April, on the other hand, looks pretty solid, except for her iconic yellow jumpsuit.
For some bizarre reason, the designers have chosen to depict her with the top removed and tied around her waist. Which looks unnatural, but doesn’t detract from the overall finish. What’s more, the set was initially predicted to feature 4 emotes. One for each member of the heroes. But sadly, they never made it to the item store.
RELEASE
That being said, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans have been dreaming of getting their hands on a Fortnite collaboration. And this set delivers on that need in spades. Despite its detractions, the set is awesome and will shoot straight to the top of every fan’s wishlist. And with the new Rocket Racing and LEGO worlds available to enjoy there has never been a better time to be a Fortnite player. And with John Wick expected to return to the item store within a matter of days, Epic Games has effortlessly ensured gamers have the best experience possible as we enter Winterfest.
If you intend to add the Fortnite x TMNT set to your collection, the Turtles will set you back a cool 3,400 V-Bucks. April will cost you 1,800. But when the skins are as awesome as this, it’s a small price to pay.
The Fortnite x TMNT collaboration is available to buy in the item store right now.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some victims to attend to. See you on the map! COWABUNGA!
