“The Hot Toys Doc Ock is an imposing figure that will be a fine addition to your Spider-Man collection.”
The Hot Toys figure of Doc Ock has arrived! The figure is based on his appearance from Spider-Man: No Way Home. There are two versions – the normal one that we are reviewing and the deluxe version that also includes the nanotech tentacles. But does this new figure have our spider-sense tingling? Let’s find out.

THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES
In terms of size, the box is thicker than usual because of the tentacles. I love the box design for the Spider-Man No Way Home figures. There is a promotional drawing of the character with a mystic arts portal. You can also spot the weapons of the other villains (Green Goblin’s and Electro’s lightning). On the side, there are black and white pictures from the film. Plus, when you remove the first part of the box, you get the usual window box. And at the back the Spider-Man logo with the multiverse opening like at the end of the film.
The figure comes with a simple green display base featuring the shadow of Doc Ock, his name, and New York buildings. I prefer the base that came with the Green Goblin figure. I don’t think the New York building was needed on this one. Then, he has seven hands. Two fist hands, two semi-open hands, two open hands, and one hand to hold the glasses. The lenses of the glasses have a nice green-yellow-ish. It’s a small accessory, so be careful not to lose it.
The big stuff is the four tentacles. They are heavy and imposing. They are articulated with bendable wires. Each claw is also fully articulated. There are two types of claws. The bottom ones are like feet, they are here to hold the figure while the top ones are for action. You can attach a spear on either of the top claws. Though, beware it isn’t easy to insert the tentacles in the figure. The first two are easy but the last two are almost impossible to insert completely. The tentacles are so big that there isn’t enough space between them to hold and push the last part of the tentacle into the figure. It’s annoying. So be prepared if you plan on getting this figure.
THE FIGUREÂ

I appreciate that Hot Toys has given us all these Spider-Man villains, you can create an awesome rogues gallery here. They did a great job recreating Doc Ock in figure format. He has his two coats and they did something smart here. The pleather coat (the second coat) is sleeveless, which means that no matter how you pose the arms, it won’t stretch the pleather and damage it. Apart from the shoes and the belts, the rest of the figure is using fabric. The turtleneck sweater is so soft. When touching it, it does feel like it’s a real sweater. Hot Toys care about the details.
THE HEADSCULPT

There have been mixed reactions among collectors for this headsculpt. But I love it. I’m always happy when Hot Toys gives us a figure with a different facial expression than usual. And I think this one fits Doc Ock. Plus, for me, I can recognize Alfred Molina there. He looks great both with and without the glasses. However, it’s disappointing he doesn’t have the separate rolling eyeballs especially since the Green Goblin figure has that feature.
