Jeff Bridges is Officially Returning to The Grid in TRON: ARES. End of Line…

Jedd Bridges as Kevin Flynn in TRON: Legacy

Disney announced that Jeff Bridges will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn in the TRON LEGACY sequel, TRON: ARES.

Greetings, programs. We have some wonderful news from the Grid. Disney has officially confirmed that Jeff Bridges will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn in the upcoming sequel TRON: ARES. After the finale of TRON Legacy seemingly ended Flynn’s involvement in the franchise, fans had feared the worst, especially when Bridges’ name wasn’t added to the cast list for the sequel. But now, all that has changed, and we can all look forward to reuniting with Kevin Flynn on The Grid.

To confirm the news, Disney shared a behind-the-scenes image of Jeff Bridges reading his script. Taking to social media, the studio captioned the image, “Jeff Bridges returns to the grid.” Check out the image below.

SYNOPSIS

“TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

Although the synopsis tentatively hints at what we can expect in the sequel, Disney keeps its cards close to the chest on this one.  Details about the plot are only known by a few with access to the Master Control Program. But now, with Bridges confirmed to appear, speculation will mount about the involvement of his son, Sam, played by Garrett Hedlund. As will the future of Quorra, played by Olivia Wilde.

Until Disney addresses their future, the speculation will continue. Until then, an all-new cast stacked with talent will lead the fight against artificial intelligence. Jared Leto leads the cast of TRON: Ares, with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson rounding out the primary cast.

In a recent interview with Collider, series newcomer Cameron Monaghan revealed more about the scope of the sequel. “I think this one, in a very similar way, is going to really push forward what can be done, from a visual perspective. I would sometimes even come in on days I wasn’t working because that set was really amazing. A lot of the practical sets were pretty phenomenal, and I would love to go look at those as well,” Monaghan said.

RELEASE

Disney has now penciled the film in for its 10th October 2025 release schedule. However, the studio has yet to confirm who will compose the soundtrack for the film. Daft Punk famously produced a sensational and immersive score for TRON: Legacy, so fans will be hoping to see the trend continue. Sadly, until Disney confirms these details, the speculation will only continue. But either way, we can all look forward to another trip to the Grid with TRON. And that alone is an exciting prospect.

TRON: ARES takes us back to the Grid on October 1oth, 2025.

End of Line…
