Our first look at TRON: Ares starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Gillian Anderson has arrived from The Grid. End of Line…
Greetings programs. After what has seemed like an eternity, Disney has unveiled our first look at TRON: Ares. The long-awaited sequel to TRON: Legacy has been stuck in developmental hell since its initial announcement. And the recent SAG AFTRA strikes did little to help the project’s journey toward the assembly line. But with those issues finally resolved, the film is moving along at pace. So much so that Disney and Jared Leto have given us a glimpse at the property.
The image reveals Rinzler/TRON rocking an all-new red neon trim. Last we saw, Rinzler had redeemed himself and morphed back into his traditional blue neon suit. But it looks as if things have taken a turn for the worse in the upcoming sequel. Check out the image below.

SYNOPSIS
“TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
Although the synopsis tentatively hints at what we can expect to see in the sequel, Disney is keeping its cards pretty close to the chest on this one. Details about the plot are only known by a selected few with access to the Master Control Program. But it seems Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn will not be making a triumphant return to the series. Nor will his son, Sam played by Garrett Hedlund. And finally, Quorra played by Olivia Wilde will also be omitted from the threequel. Instead, an all-new cast stacked with talent will lead the fight against artificial intelligence.
Jared Leto leads the cast of TRON: Ares, with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson rounding out the primary cast.

RELEASE
Sadly, as of press time, Disney has refused to commit to an official release date. Although the tentative date is sometime in 2025. Additionally, the studio has yet to confirm who will be composing the soundtrack for the film. Daft Punk famously produced a sensational and immersive score for TRON: Legacy, so fans will be hoping to see the trend continue. Sadly, until Disney confirms these details the speculation will only continue. But either way, we can all look forward to another trip to the Grid with TRON. And that alone is an exciting prospect.
