Netflix just dropped a teaser for its new true-crime anthology series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

A few days after unveiling the intense launch trailer, Netflix revealed the first teaser for its highly anticipated true-crime anthology series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Following the massive success of DAHMER, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan return to reveal the depravity of José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez’s murders. The couple was brutally murdered by their sons, who are both serving life sentences without the possibility of parole. But what drove the duo to murder their parents? Was it an act of self-preservation, as the duo claims? Or is the truth something far more sinister? This series will reveal all for the very first time.

Hit play on the teaser below for your first taste of this gripping, thought-provoking true crime series.

SYNOPSIS

Following the massive success of DAHMER, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series returns with Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, chronicling the case of the real-life brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

While the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed – and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole – that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story dives into the historic case that took the world by storm, paved the way for audiences’ modern-day fascination with true crime, and in return asks those audiences: Who are the real monsters?

And who ultimately played a crucial cruciale in Lyle and Erik’s arrests. Dallas Roberts plays Dr. Jerome Oziel, the self-protective and not-entirely-by-the-book therapist who Erik Menendez sees after the murder of his parents. RELEASE

Adding “Dahmer” to the Netflix watchlist was one of the fastest decisions I’ve ever made. It was a jaw-dropping essential television series, and the idea of another gripping true-crime thriller is fascinating. Especially when it pertains to the acts of Lyle and Erik Menendez. Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan have shown an extraordinary talent for depicting crime in its most authentic form. If they bring the same winning formula they used in “Dahmer” to their new project, our autumn nights will be filled with spine-chilling storytelling. The experience might be discomforting, but the content promises to be nothing short of unflinchingly powerful.

Mark the date in your diary because Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is streaming on Netflix on September 19th.
