NEW RELEASES
In the past, Shudder has gone above and beyond to deliver a sensational library of excellent titles for us to enjoy at Halloween, and 2024 is no different. Nine new titles are premiering on the streamer this Halloween, and some big titles are in the mix. Leading the charge is Russell Crowe’s latest big-screen outing, The Exorcism. In the film, a troubled actor begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.
We had an exciting time at the film’s press screening earlier in the year. Our reviewer Carl Roberts said, “Instead of a great and chilling horror movie, we get one that is half-baked and then allowed to go cold, almost literally. Cast performances aside, there is little here to recommend the film. We have seen it all before. Unoriginal, uneven, and over-reliant on jump scares, the film doesn’t fully deserve to be exorcised. But it comes pretty close.” Read our review here.

OTHER NEW TITLES
Other new movies debuting on the streamer for Halloween include “V/H/S/Beyond,” a chilling anthology with six new tapes, and “Daddy’s Head,” “MadS,” “Azrael,” “Hush,” and “The Houses October Built.” And that’s not all – “The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” is returning, and the “2024 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards” will add some much-needed prestige.
Get ready for some thrilling updates to Shudder’s classic horror collection. The archive grows with more horror gems every month, and this October is no exception. If you’re a fan of classic killer clown movies, you’re in for a real treat. But don’t just take my word for it. Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat and grab the cushions for an extra thrill!
