“Agatha All Along delivers an unconventional finale for a Marvel series. It’s a satisfying and amazing conclusion focusing on the characters rather than on epic action while opening the door for what’s next. Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn shine in their respective roles.”

We have finally come to the end of the witches’ road. It’s time to say goodbye to Agatha All Along with its final two episodes.

TO GLORY AT THE END

Since the beginning, Agatha All Along has shown us it wasn’t our typical Marvel series, so it only makes sense that the finale is quite unconventional. Usually, the Marvel series delivers epic finales with a lot of action. However, this one provides a more intimate finale that focuses on the characters and the emotional impact this journey had on them. Yes, it’s great to have big epic fight scenes with lots of CG when you watch Marvel, but having a character-driven story is just as good. On top of that, it’s refreshing to have a series that breaks the Marvel formula and does its own thing. As much as I love the Marvel series, most have been similar, except WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Even if a formula works, trying different things is essential, too. And Agatha All Along has successfully done that!

Episode 8 is about the end of the witches’ road. The journey hasn’t been easy. It’s been one of loss and challenges. Whether it’s Kale, Billy, or Agatha, they all have their emotional moments. Undoubtedly, it brings some tears along the way. But it also brings great joy. Indeed, we finally see Billy in full costume. This is incredibly satisfying. Billy makes quite the entrance. My only regret is that we don’t see him enough in it.

This episode also brings surprises, along with tears and joy. Everything comes full circle. When you think about the previous episodes, it all makes perfect sense. Jac Schaeffer is a master at storytelling!

AGATHA’S STORY

The final episode finally shines a light on Agatha Harkness’ past with her son. She is a complex character with so many layers. This is what makes her so compelling. We both love and hate her, but we mostly love her. Seeing what happened with her son helps us understand where she is coming from. Having the final episode be a flashback, for the most part, is so unexpected. But it’s also something necessary. It gives closure to that part of Agatha’s story while opening a new chapter for her. And that chapter is the one we know from the Scarlet Witch comics – a ghost. I love how this series has taken inspiration from that comic’s run while doing something very much of its own. Like WandaVision, Agatha All Along concludes what started initially and opens the door for the next series – Vision Quest. It’s time for Billy to find Tommy.

VERDICT

Agatha All Along delivers an unconventional finale for a Marvel series. It’s a satisfying and amazing conclusion focusing on the characters rather than the epic action while opening the door for what’s next. Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn shine in their respective roles. WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and Vision Quest could potentially become Marvel’s best trilogy.

Agatha All Along is now streaming on Disney Plus.
