Dogwoof is excited to present the trailer for ‘THE BIBI FILES,’ a new documentary by Alexis Bloom. The film is set for release in select cinemas across the UK and Ireland. As well as On Demand, starting December 13th.

Jigsaw Productions’ The Bibi Files, from director Alexis Bloom (“Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes”) and Oscar-winning producer Alex Gibney (“Taxi to the Dark Side”), is a searing documentary focused on high-level familial corruption, and the disastrous lengths a political leader will go to escape accountability. The film depicts a man who is solely concentrated on his political survival within a war-stricken region.

THE DOCUMENTARY

Filmmakers have obtained leaked footage of police interrogation videos featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His family, close associates, and benefactors, as part of a corruption probe. The footage reveals a consistent pattern of extravagant gift exchanges and reciprocal favours within media and business circles. These interrogation videos, combined with archival material, trace Netanyahu’s ascent to power. And illustrate how his almost three-decade tenure as Prime Minister has polarized the state of Israel.

Interspersed throughout are interviews with prominent journalists, Israeli statesmen, Netanyahu associates, and longtime friends. Their observations and anecdotes paint a chilling portrait of a leader who, in his effort to avoid justice has allied himself with radical right-wing extremists. Netanyahu’s fixation on his entitlement to remain Prime Minister has, in this way, led to political decisions that have endangered Israel’s safety. And destroyed her standing as a democracy in the Middle East. The parallels between Netanyahu’s rule and the threats posed by autocrats and extremists in other prominent democracies are clear.

The film, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year amid attempts by the Israeli government to block its screenings, will be available in UK and Irish cinemas. As well as On Demand from the 13th of December, promising an unforgettable viewing experience.
