Stay up to date with the latest Star Wars news. Dive into the unexpected change in the release schedule and its impact on the franchise.
Disney has made a significant change to its release calendar, removing a Star Wars film that was set to debut on December 18, 2026. The studio has not provided details regarding which specific film has been taken off the schedule. However, speculation suggests that it may be related to the upcoming New Jedi Order film featuring Daisy Ridley. The news shouldn’t come as any real surprise after Steven Knight stepped down from his responsibilities as the film’s writer. Therefore, Lucasfilm may be forced to pivot in another direction.
Variety reports that “Ice Age 6” will move into the vacant Star Wars spot.

Thankfully, 2026 will still see the release of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will be released on 22nd May 2026. But this is Star Wars, and the Force moves in mysterious ways.
