“The Daniels have delivered a solid and fun episode of Skeleton Crew. This one is a Neel centric episode which will have fan cheering for him. The mystery around At Attin also gets more exciting!”

It’s that time of the week for a new episode of Star Wars. And just like that, we are already halfway through Skeleton Crew. So far, this series has been a lot of fun, bringing a refreshing perspective on a galaxy far far away. Episodes are released weekly on Wednesdays in the UK at 2 a.m. and on Tuesdays in the US at 6 p.m. PT on Disney +.

NEEL NATION, WE RISE

Undoubtedly, Neel has been the scene stealer among this group of kid characters since the beginning of Skeleton Crew. Who doesn’t love a cute little alien who keeps lightning the mood? He’s quickly becoming a fan favourite with his own fan group name – Neel nation. And this episode is for them. Indeed, this one is a Neel centric. Neel nation, we rise! It’s just really sweet to see him getting into the spotlight. He’s the voice of reason among the group while also being the one who’s the most afraid. Robert Timothy Smith delivers an earnest performance as this character. The way he acts under that mask and his line delivery feels genuine.

Moreover, this episode puts Neel in a romance storyline with a new character, which is fun to see. It doesn’t bring much to the story but it adds to the character. Developing characters is important too because you want the audience to care about them. And we sure do care about this little Neel!

CAN’T SAY I REMEMBER NO AT ATTIN

Moreover, this episode sends the characters to At Achrann, a planet extremely similar to theirs but in a very different condition. This is a place of ruins and war, the exact contrary of At Attin. But here lies something intriguing about At Attin. The mystery around this planet gets even more exciting. Not only are the characters compelling but the story also keeps you invested. It’s just straight up fun like the ’80s Amblin adventures. Jod Na Nawood, Captain Silvo or should I say Captain Silvo is wild card, you are never sure what he is up to but he sure knows how to get himself out of tricky situations. Jude Law is simply incredible in this role. He brings his charisma to the character. Plus, the way he delivers some lines is priceless. I think everyone will remember the “you know what, just shoot me.”

Episode 4 was one I was really looking forward to because it’s directed by The Daniels, the directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once. They haven’t disappointed me, they have delivered a solid and fun episode. Throughout the episode, you can recognize their approach of how they bring to life a story, especially with the camera work. It’s so unexpected to see them working on Star Wars but it’s so good! On top of that, after Alfred Molina in episode 3, French actor Mathieu Kassovitz is making a guest-star appearance. I love surprises and this series keeps delivering on that. If you are familiar with his filmography, you’ll know that this role suits him. It begs the question, will we see other famous actors in upcoming episodes?

VERDICT

The Daniels have delivered a solid and fun episode of Skeleton Crew. This one is a Neel centric episode which will have fan cheering for him. The mystery around At Attin also gets more exciting!
