The Last Of Us Season 2 Trailer Revealed: The Infection Is Spreading!

The first trailer for HBO's The Last Of Us Season 2

HBO has released the first full trailer for The Last of Us Season 2. The trailer introduces new characters and infections and explores the growing relationship between Bella and Joel.

At long last, HBO has dropped the first full trailer for The Last of Us Season 2. After a thrilling and intricately woven first season, all eyes are now on the showrunners to deliver a compelling continuation of the journey. The initial teaser gave us a glimpse of what’s to come in the new episodes. Still, this latest trailer takes it up a notch, introducing new characters and different strains of the infection while delving deeper into the evolving bond between Bella and Joel. Check out the trailer below.

SXSW PANEL

The trailer was revealed during the South by Southwest Film Festival panel for the series, where the creators and cast of HBO’s Emmy-winning post-apocalyptic drama series were on hand to give us an insight into the second season.

Co-showrunner Craig Mazin said “escalation” is a major theme of the season, which will include different types of infected. “A lot of what’s going on in the season is evolution and change,” he said. “Ellie is growing up, and she is changing. This town of Jackson is growing up. It is expanding. It’s taking in refugees. And the world outside is changing. It was important to us to always move the ball forward with the infected. It’s not a question of just more, but something else, something that is meaningful to what is going on, so they don’t just become NPCs.”

Fellow co-showrunner Neil Druckmann added “For us, everything is drama. Even the action sequences are drama. In season one, we were picking and choosing our moments because we weren’t sure what we were doing. Now we know what we’re doing. We swung for the fences with some of this. There’s pretty intense stuff you don’t even see in the trailer. People ask if season two is better. I often say, ‘It’s crazier.’”

The panel featured co-showrunners Mazin and Druckmann, along with actors Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Young Mazino. This season, new cast members, including Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright, along with Dever and Merced, who join Mazino as Jesse, were also present. Notably, Catherine O’Hara also made a guest appearance.

THE SERIES

The series centers on two survivors, Pascal and Ramsey, as they navigate a lawless America ravaged by a devastating plague that transforms its victims into zombie-like creatures. The first season achieved remarkable success, winning eight Emmy Awards and earning nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, as well as for lead actor and actress in a drama series for Pascal and Ramsey.

The new trailer effectively establishes the tone for the upcoming episodes, hinting at an exciting second season ahead.
