From FX’s “Alien: Earth” and “The Bear”, to UK Original Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes” to Disney Studios’ “Mufasa: The Lion King” and Lucasfilm’s “Andor” season 2 – Disney+ reveals a raft of must-see titles for 2025 

As Disney+ celebrates its fifth birthday this March, the streaming service unveils an exciting lineup of titles set to premiere in the UK and Ireland in 2025. Titles include FX’s highly anticipated Alien: Earth, the new limited series FX’s Dying for Sex starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, star-studded UK Original The Stolen Girl – a five-part psychological drama starring Denise Gough, Holliday Grainger and Ambika Mod, alongside Lucasfilm’s Andor season 2 returning for its long-awaited conclusion, and Searchlight Pictures’ Award-winning A Real Pain. Not to mention critically acclaimed and multiple Emmy® award-winning series returning including FX’s The Bear, Only Murders in the Building and the latest season of The Simpsons now streaming exclusively on Disney+ in the UK.

Disney+ also welcomes the return of the sisterhood with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives swinging back onto the platform with season two on 15 May 2025. Further to this, widely anticipated series from National Geographic includes Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Underdogs, Ocean with David Attenborough, and Tucci in Italy.

LOCAL ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS

Led by the captivating Denise Gough, Holliday Grainger and Ambika Mod and based on the book ‘Playdate’ by Alex Dahl, the chilling five-part series The Stolen Girl follows the story of a seemingly happy family plunged into a life-altering situation and launches exclusively on 16  April 2025 on Disney+ worldwide. Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, a four-part UK Original drama coming in Spring 2025, written and produced by BAFTA Award winning Jeff Pope (“Philomena”, “Stan and Ollie”) focuses on the events surrounding the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, after he is mistaken for a terrorist.

Further UK unscripted Originals include Sneaker Wars: Adidas vs. Puma the three-part documentary series from David Beckham’s Studio 99 that dives deep into the fierce, decades-long rivalry between two global sportswear giants, born from a family feud. An untitled Freddie Flintoff Original documentary film (1×90’) from award-winning director John Dower will cover the former international cricketer and broadcast presenter’s recovery and career to date. This is alongside Caroline (w/t), a documentary celebrating the life and career of one of the UK’s most popular TV presenters Caroline Flack, which follows Christine, Caroline’s mother, as she seeks to understand the events in the final months of her daughter’s life.

GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT

Disney+’s general entertainment offering continues to grow in 2025, with the addition of many highly anticipated titles. Highlights include FX’s Alien: Earth – the sci-fi horror series created by Noah Hawley with a cast led by Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther and Timothy Olyphant; the compelling limited drama series Good American Family, starring Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and Imogen Faith Reid, inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopt a girl with a rare form of dwarfism; and FX’s “Dying for Sex”, inspired by the story of one woman’s terminal cancer diagnosis and the unconventional journey that beckons starring Michelle Williams.

Joining the 2025 slate are many fan-favourite series, including FX’s Emmy® award-winning The Bear season 4, Percy Jackson and The Olympians season 2 and a new season of Phineas and Ferb from Disney Branded Television, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2, Only Murders in the Building season 5 and Will Trent season 3.

MARVEL TELEVISION AND MARVEL ANIMATION

In 2025, Disney+ has already welcomed Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man and Marvel Television’s all-new series Daredevil: Born Again, which stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Dominique Williams returns as genius inventor Riri Williams in Marvel Television’s Ironheart— streaming on Disney+ beginning in June, the original live-action series is set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Wonder Man starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery debuts later this year.

The acclaimed thriller Andor will return for its long-awaited conclusion on 23 April 2025. The twelve episodes of season 2 will carry the story of Cassian Andor and the emerging rebel alliance in the climactic four years that lead to the discovery of The Death Star and the events of Rogue One.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

National Geographic will feature a star-studded line up of varied series, including a new season of Limitless with Chris Hemsworth where Hemsworth uncovers the latest scientific thinking and unlocks some of the world’s best-kept secrets to living a better life; David Blaine Do Not Attempt where world-renowned magician and endurance artist David Blaine explores the world through the lens of magic; and the new docu-series Tucci in Italy, in which Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning actor Stanley Tucci unlocks the distinct flavours that define each region and discovers the rich versatility of Italy through those he meets along the journey. Also featured is Ocean with David Attenborough, the first partnership between National Geographic and the world’s leading natural historian, Sir David Attenborough, in a feature-length documentary special about the health of our Ocean, taking viewers on a breathtaking journey showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean.

The newest instalment in National Geographic’s Emmy-winning “Secrets of” franchise, Secrets of the Penguins, takes viewers of all ages to the farthest corners of the world to witness penguin behaviours captured on film for the first time. The three-part series is led by National Geographic Explorer and Emmy and BAFTA Award-Winning Filmmaker Bertie Gregory, executive produced by National Geographic Explorer-at-Large and Academy Award-Winner James Cameron and narrated by Blake Lively (“Another Simple Favor”). Additionally, Underdogs (2025), executive produced and narrated by Ryan Reynolds, highlights the unsung heroes, the oddballs, the weirdos, and the ugliest (or perhaps they’re just misunderstood?) animals in the natural world.
