Vertigo Releasing is thrilled to present the UK trailer and poster for THE SURFER. DiscussingFilm Lorcan Finnegan’s latest wild work is out in UK and Irish cinemas from 9th May. It is a psychological thriller film written by Thomas Martin, directed by Lorcan Finnegan and starring Nicolas Cage. The film is an Irish-Australian co-production and was filmed in Yallingup, a town in the South West region of Western Australia, 159 miles south of Perth. PREMISE
A man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But is humiliated by a group of powerful locals and drawn into a conflict that rises with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him right to his breaking point.
An entertaining, stylistic and psychologically unsettling piece of pulp cinema, THE SURFER has been thrilling audiences since its premiere in the Midnight Screenings section at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Starring the iconic actor Nicolas Cage, with a terrific ensemble including Julian McMahon, Nicholas Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, and Alexander Bertrand.

CRITICAL RESPONSE
The film has had some incredible reviews since it was featured in the Limelight section of the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam in February of this year. It received notices such as:
