Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy-The Official Film Chart Header 9/4/25

Check out The Official Film Chart for insights into the most popular films on home entertainment currently capturing audiences.

Welcome to The Official Film Chart.

THE NEW TOP TEN TITLES

Six different titles take up residency inside the top ten placings this week, causing a huge shift. To accommodate these new and returning titles, we wave goodbye to A Real Pain, We Live In Time, Despicable Me 4, The Wild Robot, Better Man, and Nosferatu. And we have the predicted (by me, at least) new number-one title. What could it be? Get those diaries out one final time as we find out.

BRIDGET JONES IS MAD ABOUT THE BOY AT THE TOP!

Enter: Bridget Jones. Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, the fourth and final film in the series, debuts at Number 1 this week. The Michael Morris-directed movie, adapted from Helen Morris’s 2013 novel of the same name, sees Bridget (Renée Zellweger) navigate love, loss and life as a single parent.

THE WICKED REIGN IS OVER!

It defied gravity for no less than five weeks, but Wicked’s reign atop the Official Film Chart is finally over as it drops to Number 2.

KRAVEN FIGHTS BACK!

The Sony Pictures comic book movie Kraven The Hunter fights back this week as he rises two places to Number 3.

MUFASA ROARS AGAIN!

Elsewhere, Mufasa: The Lion King makes its mark at Number 4. Directed by Barry Jenkins and starring the likes of Aaron Pierre (Mufasa), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Taka), and Tiffany Boone (Sarabi), Walt Disney Pictures’ live-action blockbuster serves as both a prequel and sequel to 2019’s The Lion King, and the animated 1994 original.

TIME TO TAKE ANOTHER DOSE OF THE SUBSTANCE!

2024 body horror The Substance bags a brand-new entry at Number 5 this week. The acclaimed film sees once-celebrated Hollywood star Elisabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore) enticed by ‘The Substance’, a black-market drug promising a ‘younger, more beautiful, more perfect’ version of its subscriber. What could possibly go wrong?

PADDINGTON UP THE CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE AGAIN!

Our favourite marmalade-loving bear, Paddington In Peru, is up the creek again as he drifts two places to Number 6.

GLADIATOR II GETS ANOTHER CHART ARENA BEATDOWN!

Risley Scott’s sequel, Gladiator II, gets another slight chart arena beatdown this week, falling a place to Number 7.

Paul Mescal plays Lucius in Gladiator II from Paramount Pictures.

WE GET A NEW BABYGIRL IN EIGHTH PLACE!

Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson’s erotic thriller Babygirl is a new entry at Number 8.

ANYONE BUT YOU IS ANYWHERE BUT OUTSIDE THE TOP TEN!

The rom-com Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, returns to the top ten at Number 9.

IT IS TIME TO KILL BILL ONCE AGAIN!

And finally, the classic Quentin Tarantino movie Kill Bil-Vol. 1 returns to the chart after an extended absence as it rejoins the chart in the tenth and final position.

MICKEY 17 IS NOW AVAILABLE ON PVOD!

And that is the end of a quite surprising Official Top Ten chart for this week. However, once again, things could get shaken up next week. The Science Fiction black comedy Mickey 17 has arrived on PVOD this week, only a scant few weeks after it opened in cinemas. The film stars Robert Pattinson in the title role alongside Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Set in the year 2054, the plot follows a man who joins a space colony as an “Expendable”, a disposable worker who gets cloned every time he dies for research purposes. The film was a box office failure, which, while not, in my opinion, the best film from director Bong Joon Ho, deserved a better fate. If you feel the need for some Mickey 17, rent it for £15.99 or buy it early for £19.99.

Will Mickey manage to dethrone Bridget at the top of the charts next week? Anything is possible, so until then…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!!
