Prime Video Shares First Trailer for Nia DaCosta's Hedda Starring Tessa Thompson

Check out this first look at Tessa Thompson in Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, coming to Prime Video in October after its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Prime Video has shared our first look at Nia DaCosta’s Hedda. The modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s play Hedda Gabler stars Tessa Thompson as the titular character, who finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. The film will enjoy its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but today, Prime Video has announced the date we can expect the movie to land on the streamer.

Get ready to bolster your Halloween watchlist because the film is officially dropping on Prime Video on October 29th. So before the chilling horror begins, we can all look forward to some long-repressed desires boiling to the surface. But don’t take my word for it, check out the first teaser image for the film below. It features Tessa Thompson dressed in a stunning dress and looking like a million bucks!

SYNOPSIS

From writer/director Nia DaCosta comes a provocative, modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. HEDDA (Tessa Thompson) finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt—pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.

CAST & CREW

In addition to Tessa Thompson, the film stars Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss. Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Gabrielle Nadig, and Tessa Thompson all serve as producers while Nia DaCosta writes and directs. The film will benefit from the musical talents of Hildur Gudnadottir, who produced the score for Joker. Rounding out the talents assigned to the film are Lindsay Pugh, who serves as Costume Designer, and Sean Bobbitt, BSC, who serves as Director of Photography. Finally, Cara Brower will serve as the Production Designer, and Jacob Schulsinger will be the film’s Editor.
