THE UK TOP TEN

This week, we see two new entries and two re-entries into the chart placings. With these four titles making their mark, there’s no longer any room for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Jurassic World: Dominion, Jurassic Park, and The Penguin Lessons. We also have a brand new number one title. But what could it be? It’s time for fun as we find out.

LILO & STITCH FLY STRAIGHT INTO THE TOP SPOT!

Walt Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch storms straight to Number 1 on this week’s Official Film Chart. A reimagining of the animated 2002 original, Lilo & Stitch takes place on planet Turo, and sees Dr. Jumba Jookiba (Zach Galifianakis) convicted of illegal genetic experimentation when he creates a disruptive creature by the name of Experiment 626 (Chris Sanders).

Despite being exiled for his aggressive behaviour, Experiment 626 manages to escape, using a police cruiser to make his way to Kauaʻi, planet Earth. On his landing, Experiment 626 (soon to be known as Stitch) meets Hawaiian girl Lilo Pelekai (Maia Kealoha). But can Jumba’s experiment work out for the good of Lilo’s fragmented family?

BALLERINA SHOOTS INTO THE CHART!

Ballerina also bags a brand-new entry at Number 3 this week. The 2025 Len Wiseman-directed action thriller serves as the fifth instalment of the John Wick franchise, taking place between the events of 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and 2023’s Chapter 4.

Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) witnesses her father’s brutal murder as a child, before being taken in by Winston and trained for 12 years by the Ruska Roma as both ballerina and assassin under The Director’s supervision. Driven by vengeance, she defies orders and tracks the cult responsible, leading her from Prague to a snowbound Austrian town inhabited entirely by indoctrinated killers. Faced with some shocking family revelations along the way, will she accomplish a challenge set by John Wick?

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON?

This week sees the PVOD release of the live-action version of How To Train Your Dragon. The film is written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who co-wrote and directed the animated movies. It stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Frost, with Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast from the animated films. I enjoyed the film a whole lot, earning it a spot in my top ten movies of the (so far!). If you’re looking for something to entertain the kids or just want a family movie to enjoy together, consider renting it for £15.99 or buying it early for £19.99.

Can How To Train Your Dragon take down the top spot next week, or will Lilo & Stitch hold firm? Join me again next week as we find out. So, until next time…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!!
