Sky has today announced a new episode of the critically acclaimed Sky Original documentary series, The Case Against Adnan Syed. Coming to Sky Documentaries on 19 September.
The first four parts of the series, directed by Academy Award-nominated director Amy J. Berg, explore the 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. And the arrest and conviction of Syed, who was her ex-boyfriend at the time.
This new episode features exclusive access to Adnan and chronicles the developments in the case after police arrested a suspect from the original investigation into Lee’s murder for assaulting a woman. This development led Adnan’s legal team to revisit the case and demand a new investigation. When the state attorney’s office stepped in, the prosecution pushed back. This resulted in a legal and political tug of war that thrust Adnan’s case into chaotic uncertainty.
PART FIVE
‘Part Five: The Tree Grew’ explores Adnan’s personal journey from imprisonment to freedom. And his eventual reunion with family after 23 years behind bars. During the year-long investigation led by his new lawyer, Erica J. Suter. And supported by Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, new information is unearthed. And flaws in the original investigation and prosecution are exposed. New details come to light, including undisclosed evidence pointing to other potential suspects and suppressed witness testimony. And DNA from the crime scene that had remained untested.
Sky presents The Case Against Adnan Syed: Part Five: The Tree Grew in association with HBO Documentary Films. Produced by Instinct, Working Title Television (which is part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group) and Disarming Films. Written, directed and executive produced by Amy J. Berg; produced by Jenna Cedicci, Dana Kuznetzkoff; executive produced by Henrietta Conrad, Jemima Khan, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title Television, and Rabia Chaudry.
The Case Against Adnan Syed: Part Five: The Tree Grew airs on 19 September on Sky Documentaries and streaming service NOW.
