Vue Lumière has launched the official trailer for BRIDES. The feature film debut by Nadia Fall, Artistic Director of The Young Vic theatre. It stars Ebada Hassan and Safiyya Ingar and is written by Suhayla El-Bushra (Hollyoaks, Becoming Elizabeth). After premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, BRIDES recently had its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. “BRIDES” hits cinemas in the UK and Ireland on September 26th. There will also be previews nationwide on 23rd September and a special screening with talent Q&A at BFI Southbank on 25th September.
PREMISE
BRIDES is the story of two teenage girls in search of freedom, friendship, and belonging. Both run away from their lives in the UK with a dangerous plan of travelling to Syria. A road movie about the intensity of female friendship and the mistakes of teenagehood. BRIDES is a rousing debut feature.
A UK-Italy co-production. Nicky Bentham, known for The Duke and the Oscar®-nominated short The After, and Marica Stocchi are producing BRIDES. The BFI, Ffilm Cymru Wales, Creative Wales, Great Point Media, the Italian Ministry of Culture, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Rai Cinema are financing the film. With Bankside handling international sales. Principal photography took place in Wales, Italy and Turkey.
