“Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is an entertaining Avengers adventure with a LEGO twist.”
After LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy – Pieces of the Past in September, LEGO is back with another adventure. This time, it’s in the world of superheroes with Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails. The two-part miniseries releases today on Disney+, but does it live up to the hype? Or is this an adventure one brick too far for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?

AN AVENGERS ADVENTURE …Â
With Star Wars, LEGO explored revisiting the characters in different ways, but we already have that with Marvel: it’s called the multiverse. So instead, here LEGO gives us a proper Avengers adventure. Hawkeye is the team’s main character, an unusual but compelling choice. Indeed, we are often used to seeing characters like Captain America and Iron Man as the main Avengers. Hawkeye is a bowman, and because of that, he is frequently dismissed as less “badass” than other heroes. Thus, giving him the spotlight makes the story all the more interesting. In fact, Hawkeye is pretty badass himself.
The Avengers team itself is the one we’ve seen in different media. Characters like Iron Man, Black Panther, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow are classics that must be part of such a team. But because of the threat they are facing, Hawkeye must recruit a new team to help them. This is a significant threat that involves a lot of big superhero action that we love to see in Marvel stories. It plays all the right cards. The two episodes contain lots of surprises, cameos, and easter eggs for Marvel fans, so keep your eyes open all the way through!

… WITH A LEGO TWIST
But it wouldn’t be a LEGO story without a twist. LEGO brings its usual humour to this series, making fun of the characters and creating funny situations for them. There are several laugh-out-loud moments. Despite the threat being tangible and dangerous, it’s a ridiculous one – social media and cats. While everyone loves cats, the Avengers have to fight them. LEGO knows how to find the fun in every situation

VOICE CAST
Unlike LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy, the original live-action cast members didn’t return to voice the characters in LEGO Avengers. Nevertheless, it’s not voices we haven’t heard before. Indeed, Mick Wingert, who did a relatively good job as Tony Stark in What If…?, is back for this series. It’s not Robert Downey Jr., but his impression is close enough. Then, James Mathis III returns as Black Panther. He voiced the character in previous LEGO specials, video games, and animated series, so it’s a familiar voice for fans. Troy Baker is also back to voice Hawkeye; he had already voiced him in the Avengers Assemble animated series. The cast is filled with veteran voice actors that we all know and love.
VERDICT
Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is an entertaining Avengers adventure with a LEGO twist. It’s filled with surprises, cameos, and easter eggs that Marvel fans will all love.
