Sara Waisglass & Chase Hudson Star as the Tubi original film, How To Lose A Popularity Contest reveals an official trailer and first-look images.
The new Tubi original romantic comedy film HOW TO LOSE A POPULARITY CONTEST stars Sara Waisglass (Ginny & Georgia) and Chase Hudson (Downfalls High). The film is a sharp, flirty high school rom-com about a charming underachiever and a type-A overachiever teaming up to win student body president – and maybe each other.
Waisglass plays “Ellie,” an organized perfectionist who has accepted her fate as an unpopular high schooler looking forward to a future at a prestigious college where no one will call her “Max,” the unfortunate nickname she received from Nate (Hudson) years ago. The film is part of Tubi’s programming slate with more originals on the way.

“HOW TO LOSE A POPULARITY CONTEST” boasts executive producers Devorah Moos Hankin and Lori Massini. Lindsay Macadam and Jason Fischer produce it for Great Pacific Media, a subsidiary of Thunderbird. The film earned a spot on 2024’s The Love List as one of the “Best Unproduced Romance Scripts,” written by Kaitlin Reilly and Dorian Keyes.
