The Mayor Of Kingstown Gets Crowned By Paramount+ With A Fifth And Final Season

Paramount+ announces a fifth and final season of the hit drama series, Mayor Of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco.

Someone once said, “Don’t be sad that it’s over, just be glad that it happened.” Those words couldn’t be truer. After four superb seasons, Paramount+ has decided to vote Mike McLusky out of office. However, they are crowning him with a fifth and final season of the hit drama, Mayor Of Kingstown. Paramount+ has revealed that the series will return for an eight-episode fifth season. This will also be its last. It will star Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Edie Falco. The disappointing news also brings an unwelcome twist. The final season has been cut down from its usual 10 episodes to just 8.

The series features Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon as co-creators. Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions actively handle the production of this hit TV show. The fourth season, which gained a rare 100% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, ended just after Christmas on December 28th.

SEASON 4

In season four, Mike’s grip on Kingstown is shaken. New players move in to fill the void left by the Russians. This forces him to face a brewing gang war and prevent them from taking over the town. Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new Warden. He needs to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past.

In addition to Renner and Falco, season four stars BAFTA Award winner Lennie James, Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi.

The fourth season of MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN has Taylor Sheridan, Hugh Dillon, Jeremy Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, and Keith Cox as executive producers. Dave Erickson takes on the role of showrunner for the series.

THOUGHTS

To learn that the series is ending saddens me. I love the show, the rich characterisation, the acting prowess of the cast, and the way it grips me, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to every season, waiting rather impatiently for it to premiere. But with the series coming to an end, we now start to ask those questions: Will Mike get out alive? What will happen to the characters we have come to know and love over the past four seasons? And how exactly will it end? We will need to wait to discover the answers, but, to be honest, I can’t see Mike surviving by the series final episode. Hopefully, he gets his happy ending, but somehow, I seriously doubt he will.
