Look out, Godzilla fans, because Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero will be roaring onto cinema screens later this year!
The King of the Monsters will be roaring back into cinemas later this year as Toho and GKIDS have announced an official release date for Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero. The highly anticipated follow-up to Godzilla Minus One was officially unveiled back in November. But now, the studio has confirmed the film will open in Japan on November 3, followed by a release in North America on November 6.
The release date is significant for the long-running franchise, as it coincides with the day the original Godzilla movie debuted in Japanese theaters in 1954. Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One was also released on the same date in 2023. So the release upholds this wonderful tradition.

THE PLOT
Although details about the film are being kept underwraps, Yamazaki has already taken the franchise to impressive heights with his work on Godzilla: Minus One. And now, he returns to recapture the magic with the sequel. The writer/director returns to direct, write, and create visual effects, raising expectations after his last Oscar-winning film. After all, the film’s climactic moments showcased the mighty creature amid its regeneration cycle, hinting that Toho is gearing up for another thrilling rampage through the streets of Tokyo.
NEW POSTER
As always, Toho has released an official poster to celebrate the release date news, and it’s another glorious piece of work. The glossy one-sheet features sun-drenched clouds above Tokyo. However, the cloud formation resembles the ominous silhouette of Godzilla. Take a look below.

REVIEW
We were blown away by Takashi Yamazaki’s Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. In our glowing review, Thomas Storai said, “Godzilla Minus One is an epic film with breathtaking visuals and a wonderful soundtrack. It is truly one of the best films of the year. At its heart, it is a deeply moving postwar drama that tells a character-driven story. Ryunosuke Kamiki delivers a powerful and heartfelt performance as the lead.” Read his review here.
In his reaction post, Carl Roberts said, “Godzilla Minus One leaves the Hollywood movies in the dust! A brilliant blend of scares, effects, adventure, emotion, and drama makes it a must-see movie.
