The First Trailer For Lee Cronin's The Mummy Emerges From the Sarcophagus

What Happened To Katie? We will discover the truth this summer. The first trailer and poster for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy escape its sarcophagus!

Lock up your bandages, The Mummy is on the loose again! Hot off the record-setting resurrection of Evil Dead Rise, writer/director Lee Cronin turns to one of the most iconic horror stories of all time with an audacious, twisted retelling: Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. This reimagining of the franchise is shambling its way into cinemas on April 17th. Jack Reynor, the Irish actor, takes the lead in this new version, which is set in the modern day. Also featuring Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón, and May Calamawy, the film looks to be a frightening, twisted version of the classic tale. As you can see from the first trailer, released today, the film looks set to put the scares into summer. Take your first look below. And mind the Scarab beetle, if you can.

THE PREMISE

The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace—eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcón. Cronin wrote and directed the film, while James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville produced it. The executive producers are Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher and Lee Cronin.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

Lee Cronin collaborates with an impressive team of talented filmmakers, including director of photography Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, costume designer Joanna Eatwell, composer Stephen McKeon, and casting directors Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo.

After his simply brilliant Evil Dead Rise, Lee Cronin is the perfect choice to write and direct a new version of The Mummy. His keen eye, talent for frightening the audience, and brilliant directing should guarantee a frightening experience at the movies. Just the creepy, chilling and occasionally gory first look at the trailer should be enough to put us on edge. Could this be the horror film of the year? It looks like it could be.
