Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Review

“The penultimate episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 is a tense episode with a sense of urgency as Percy and his friends try to rescue Annabeth and get the Golden Fleece back.”

Good news: today is Wednesday, so it’s time for a new episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The bad news is that there is only one episode left before the season 2 finale.

ANOTHER RESCUE MISSION

Last week’s episode ended with Percy, Clarisse, and Tyson going after Luke’s ship to rescue Annabeth and get back the Golden Fleece. And this week, the heroes are in for another rescue mission. Although it may sound redundant, I can assure you it’s not. The plot drastically moves forward. Despite being just 34 minutes long, the episode packs in a lot. Indeed, the stakes escalate as Luke uses the Fleece to bring back Kronos.

This new rescue mission brings its own challenges because it’s not just a rescue; it’s also a race against time to get the Golden Fleece back before Kronos returns. There’s a sense of urgency throughout the episode. Having a short runtime helps build tension through a fast pace. Even during tense episodes, the series always gives the characters moments to breathe, and that’s important for storytelling. Furthermore, everyone has a role to play here, and once again, Clarisse gets to show her fighting skills. When she fights, you know it’s serious. The fight scenes in this episode are well-choreographed.

THE GOLDEN FLEECE

Luke is a complex character; he’s not one-sided. This episode shows a conflict within him. Though he’s still loyal to Kronos and believes in his fight, his love for his friends (Annabeth and Thalia) makes him question things to a certain extent. There’s more to him than just the demigod who goes to war against Olympus. So, it’s compelling to see small moments like these because they show a different side of the character. He’s also a dangerous foe for Percy. The two engage in an intense fight for the Golden Fleece. It was a much-awaited confrontation, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s not the last time they fight; there’s more to come next week. The season finale is heading for a battle at Camp Half-Blood. It promises to be an epic episode!

Moreover, this episode brings the characters some realizations about the true powers of the Golden Fleece. This lays the groundwork for what can happen next. But it also gives meaning to Percy’s vision of Thalia. Everything is essential, and it’s all coming together. Undoubtedly, this season has been some excellent writing.
